Corpo Molle (Soft Body) is a performance developed from a workshop led by Grossi Maglioni at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts, aiming to bring to light and discuss various forms of oppression and abuse perpetrated against the student body. The project draws on both archival and firsthand testimonies, encompassing the strike of life models working at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome in the 1970s, the artists’ own experiences, and accounts of student abuse. By adopting the grammar of legal proceedings, the performance highlights how the structures of the Academy, like those of the legal system, are permeated by patriarchal history, privileging the dominant narrative over that of the dominated. Beyond critiquing the institution, the performance seeks to reclaim agency for these bodies as active, self-determining subjects. Corpo Molle is Grossi Maglioni’s first experimental performance addressing the critical tensions within the legal institution.
