The Childbirth Positions is a workshop presented at <rotor> Centre for Contemporary Art. Drawing from the Beast Mother Plateau featured in the exhibition, Grossi Maglioni invited a diverse group of women to discuss and explore both experienced and desired birthing positions. Participants also created their silhouettes based on the experiences shared to continue the conversation through embodied forms. This collective embodied practice becomes a way to process and inquire childbirth as a moment in which control over women’s bodies is more acutely felt, while also reclaiming it as a site of resistance and profound generative power. The workshop was also realised during the inaugural residency of Glorious Mothers in 2022 and as part of Mothering Communities at Zentrum Fokus Forschung, University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2023.
